Patrick's family recipe: golden syrup dumplings
After our cooking class today, I decided when I got home that I would go on the hunt for my stepmother's old handwritten recipe book, and there on one of the pages was one that reminded me a lot of my childhood growing up: golden dumplings.

Ingredients:
Dumplings
1 tablespoon of butter
1 cup of self raising flour
1 egg
A pinch of salt
Milk
Syrup
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
2 tablespoons of butter
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of water.
Method
Make six dumplings and boil in the mixture for 20 minutes.
On the same page in her cookbook, is also apple dumplings. But to be honest, I don't recall ever having apple dumplings, but I may have. The recipe for those is four cups of self raising flour, one cup of butter, one and a half cups of milk and nutmeg as needed, pear and coal, the apples, rub butter into flour, mix and create a stiff paste With milk and roll out into a one quarter inch thick and cut into rounds. Place an apple in each of the forms into a ball, or sorry, place an apple in each and form into a ball and bake in the following syrup, three cups of water, one cup of sugar, one tablespoon of butter.
As much as I'd really like them to be, sounding like they're good and healthy, I would imagine that they're probably not. And to be honest, I still think that the golden dumplings would take me back to a very wonderful childhood.
